We make every effort to keep your private information private. When you order something from us, you probably don't want just anyone to know about it, and rightly so. Order as a guest or with an account

When you order something from us, you have the option to do so as a guest or with an account. The difference is that in the latter case you choose to store your data for a longer period of time. That way you do not have to fill in all the information every time you want to place an order, you can check previous orders and you can keep track of wish lists. You can read below exactly how long we store your data.

What do we want to know about you?

Invoice and delivery address

When you order something, it is also nice that it ends up in the right place. That is why we need your address details.

Type of customer

This simply indicates whether you are a private or business customer, and whether you are subject to VAT or not. If you opt for business, we also need at least your company name and possibly a VAT number.

Phone numbers

Normally we use email to communicate with you. If something is still unclear or something has gone wrong, we may call you so that we can handle everything in a smoother way. But we will not just call you, promise!


If you have chosen an account, your email is also your username for logging in.

Your email is also used to send personal and general emails. When creating an account, you can choose whether you want to receive general emails or newsletters or not. If you register for our newsletter, we use the data required for this or separately provided by you to inform you on the basis of your consent, in accordance with Art. 6 para.1 S. 1 lit. a GDPR, regularly send our email newsletter. Your password is encrypted with a secret code. This code is so secret that even we cannot see your password. The system checks with this encrypted code whether your password is correct or not.

Where are my data stored?

Our POS system and our webshop are based on the Lightspeed program. All our data is stored on Lightspeed servers itself. Back-ups of your data are kept, as a precautionary measure, on servers in various locations, both in the European Union and Canada. Together with Lightspeed, we always ensure that your data is fully secured.

Who has access to my data?

In principle, we limit as much as possible that other parties gain access to your data. Only when it is really necessary for our services will data be shared. This concerns, for example, delivery partners (DPD, BPost, PostNL, ...) because they must of course know your name and address to be able to deliver your order. With your permission, they also have access to your email address and telephone number (optional) because they can then reach you if there is a problem with the delivery. Payment providers also receive your data, simply because this is required by law and to be able to verify the authenticity of the payment, and in this way also detect fraud.

If third parties do gain access to your data, they may only use it to provide services on behalf of Juwelier Willems. Unless they themselves take responsibility for protecting your data. An example of this are some cookie developers who collect website usage data through underlying files or cookies. You can read more about our cookie policy below.

How long will my data be kept?

In principle, we do not keep your data longer than necessary. After that, we will delete all your data and you will only be used in anonymous statistics. Things that we then keep are only necessary for reporting or internal analysis, such as the value of your order or the date on which your order was placed.

That is in principle because in practice we work with imperishable products (diamond and gold) for which in some cases even a lifetime guarantee is given. In such cases, we must still be able to check whether the product was actually purchased from us, even for example 10 years after purchase.

We list how long we keep different data:

  • Telephone calls are not recorded by us and immediately deleted.
  • Camera images of our stores are kept for 30 days. Unless something suspicious happens that        requires further investigation, such as theft or other criminal offenses. We then store those images until the investigation is complete.
  • Inactive customer accounts are deleted after 10 years. After that, certain data is included in anonymous statistics.
  • Have you subscribed to our newsletter? Then you have done this of your own free will and you will remain registered until you decide to deregister yourself. This is possible at any time and every newsletter is provided with a link to unsubscribe yourself.
  • When fraudulent things occur (for example with online payment), the data is kept forever.


What about social media?

You can log in to our website with your Facebook or Google account. This saves you a lot of time because the data is entered automatically. We do ask for permission to view your public Facebook or Google profile. The data that we can see is all the data you have on your public profile, such as your name, address, email address, etc.

These social media data are only used to complete your account on the Juwelier Willems website. We will therefore never use this data to, for example, place something on your timeline.
